- Recipient of a Named Professorship at Florida State University (the Robert M. Morgan Professor of Instructional Systems, named after the founder of the Instructional Systems program at Florida State University). Award given in recognition of a career-long record of excellence in the performance of teaching, research and service. Awarded April, 2004.
- Recipient of the James W. Brown 2002 Outstanding Publication Award, the premier book award presented by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. Presented for the book Trends and Issues in Instructional Design and Technology.
